CADCA’s Geographic Health Equity Alliance (GHEA) is partnering with American Nonsmokers’ Rights Foundation to host a 2-part webinar series focused on helping communities prevent and reduce commercial tobacco use.

  • Part 1: “Clearing the Air: Science of Secondhand Smoke” took place on Monday, August 5th, 2024 at 1:00 PM EST. The webinar speaker, Traci Kennedy showed there is no need to be a scientist to understand the facts of secondhand smoke and secondhand e-cigarette aerosol and why it matters to Clear the Air once and for all of these toxic substances. This session provided 1) an overview of the history and background of the science of secondhand smoke, 2) data to support the benefits of going smokefree, and 3) the impact of secondhand e-cigarette aerosol and secondhand marijuana smoke and aerosol. Finally, Traci discussed how to implement messages in community education efforts in a way that’s engaging, authentic and creates a sense of urgency.   • Part 2: “Clearing the Air: Steps to Going Smokefree” will take place on Monday, September 9th, 2024 at 1 PM EST. In part 2 of this series, participants will learn the basics of going smokefree. For more than 40 years, Americans for Nonsmokers’ Rights has been Clearing the Air of secondhand smoke working at the local, state and national level to develop and implement evidence based best practices and strategies to guarantee smokefree workplace protections for all. Registration is now open.
